FigAnthropy & Aspiring Entrepreneurs

Everyone in FigVille has a favorite charity.   How about you?

Our community has ONE to which everyONE contributes.  Besides that, we choose what we call The All Charities Campaign. We write down as many as we are aware of and every three months each of us picks one name out of a hat.  That becomes our personal charity.  We spread it out pretty evenly that way.

My dilemma is I like most of them.  I wish only one existed, called “ALL CHARITIES,”  then all good causes would get a piece of that Fig-Anthropy pie.

I guess I could start an ALL campaign, but I’m putting it out there for grabs.  It doesn’t matter who thought of it first, or who does it.  What matters is that it gets done.  If one of you starts to create it, let me know.  I don’t want to be duplicating anyone’s efforts.

I also might start a “Help the Start-ups” –  they are our future after all.  Venture Capitalists are great but they deal mainly in businesses that intend to become HUGE!  I say, let’s not forget the middle-man on this one.  There are tons of businesses who have awesome potential, but don’t make it based on lack of capital.

In fact, we have some aspiring entrepreneurs here in town.   I’m one of them.  Trouble is, I’m too busy minding everyone else’s business that my business(es) don’t ever make it to the finish line.  Other problem is I could use a little Fig-Anthropy myself.  It’s pretty costly starting up a business to Feed America Free of Charge (FAFC), and make a few bucks to keep going.

Sorry to break the stream of thought, but some guy just walked away with $6,100.00 in the Cash Cab.  He did it solo!  The all time biggest $ winner in the cab.  Congrats!  I love New York City – even lived there once upon a time.  And a good time it was.

Back to Fig-Anthropy and entrepreneurialship.  If that wasn’t a word, it is now.  I know, I know it’s usually called “entrepreneurship,” but I didn’t feel like back-spacing.

So, in the spirit of the meaning of the word,  let’s say I just invented it.

If you are wishing you could start your own businesses or have planted the seeds already, give me a holler.  I can help you with your business plan.

In the meantime, don’t fig-it to give to your favorite charity this week.  And if anyone has any ideas for the “ALL Charities” Campaign, drop me a line.

Oh, and by the by (Mark Twainism) Sunday is Father’s Day.  Happy Father’s Day to all dads out there.  Give a dad you know a special greeting, even if he isn’t your dad.  Which brings to mind that we have Father’s Day and Mother’s Day, but no Children’s Day.  What’s up with that?

We need to get some petitions signed and sent over to the White House to create a Children’s Day.   It should be on a work-day … everyone gets to take off a day of work (with pay) to spend time celebrating their children.  I’m all for that.   You?

Come on Obama’s — is that a great idea or is that a great idea!  I think he’s already thinking about it.
